An update has been issued on the Fleming Way Bus Boulevard by Swindon Borough Council.

The update makes the experimental traffic orders which have been in place since September 4, 2022 surrounding the site permanent.

The orders, which become permanent from March 6, 2024, include amending the length of the bus lanes on Princes Street, Farringdon Road and Holbrook Way.

Secondly, the council will permenantely make Sanford Street one-way from its junction with Edgeware Road to the junction with College Street in a north-westerly direction.

It was announced via a public notice in the Adver placed by Swindon Borough Council.

Recently a senior councillor said he was close to blaming Thames Water for the much-delayed Fleming Way development.

Meanwhile, Fleming Way remains closed to all traffic while workers develop a simpler route between the train station and the town centre and a new bus station.

The project is estimated to cost £33 million and is estimated to be complete at the end of 2025.

A council spokesperson said: "The overall Fleming Way scheme will include vastly improved public open spaces with 166 new trees and over 23,000 plants, as well as new cycle lane facilities that link up the main cycling routes across the town."
