The following cases were heard at Swindon Magistrates' Court earlier this week.

SWINDON: Seleena Matouk, of Durnford Road, has been sentenced for an offence.

The 53-year-old was found guilty in his absence of keeping a motor vehicle which does not meet insurance requirements on July 27, 2023.

He has been fined £220 and ordered to pay £200 in court costs plus £88 to fund victim services.

SWINDON: Ashleigh Pickett, of Bourton, in Swindon, has been sentenced for two offences.

The 37-year-old pleaded guilty to obstructing a police officer in the execution of his duty on January 13, 2023, and pleaded not guilty but was then found guilty of being in charge of a white Ford Transit on Purley Road on the same date after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in her breath - namely 67 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - exceeded the prescribed limit.

She received a £120 fine and 10 penalty points on her driving licence and must also pay £690 in court costs as well as £48 to fund victim services.

SWINDON: Jhones Leal, of Stourwood Avenue in Bournemouth, has been sentenced for driving offences committed in Swindon.

The 29-year-old pleaded guilty to driving an Audi A6 on Groundwell Road without a licence and while having 4.3 micrograms of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (cannabis) per litre of blood in their system on July 20, 2023.

The defendant has been banned from driving for 12 months, fined £265, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs plus £106 to fund victim services.

STRATTON ST MARGARET: Andrew Hill, of Hobley Drive, has been sentenced for a driving offence.

The 41-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Seat Leon along Great Western Way on July 12, 2023, while having more than 800 micrograms of Benzoylecognine (cocaine) per litre of blood in his system.

He has been banned from driving for 12 months, fined £120, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs.

CHIPPENHAM: Bradley Massey, of Wood Lane, has been sentenced for theft from the person of another.

The 29-year-old indicated pleas of guilty to stealing a bank card and withdrawing £980 from a woman’s account between April 12 and 14, 2023, stealing another bank card from the same woman and withdrawing £950 between May 12 and June 23, 2022, then doing the same again and withdrawing £1,415 from the account between July 29 and August 30, 2022.

He received a 24-week prison sentence which has been suspended for 18 months due to the seriousness of the offences, the breach of trust, and the vulnerability of the victim.

He must receive 12 days of psychological treatment, pay back £1,630 in compensation, and carry out up to 30 rehabilitation activity days.

MELKSHAM: Kylie Taylor, of Market Place, has been sentenced for theft from a shop and using threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm, or distress.

The 35-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence, committed against a woman on or before October 6, 2023, and indicated a plea of guilty stealing four bottles of spirits worth £80 altogether from the Melksham Waitrose on the same date.

She has been jailed for 12 weeks due to the seriousness of the offences, and – court documents explain - because of the threats made, the use of a bottle, and because a person was put in fear.
