A teenager has been banned from the road after being caught driving while under the influence of cannabis.
Alister Malpass of Stapleton Close, Highworth, has been disqualified from driving for 12 months after being caught in Old Town on August 14, 2023.
Officers stopped him in Prospect Place after he was seen driving at speed and reported the strong smell of cannabis coming from the 19-year-old's Vauxhall Meriva. There was also a large quantity of cannabis found in the car.
Malpass pleaded guilty to the charges he faced at Swindon Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, February 28. He was also given a fine and court costs which added up to £404.
The fine the teenager was handed was £228, the costs to the prosecution service was £85 and the surcharge was £91.
