A nursery on the outskirts of Swindon has been put up for sale.
Westgate Nursery in Highworth is still operating, but has been listed by agent Samuel Miles for £725,000 with a for sale sign outside the building.
The daycare nursery established in 1991 serves children from three months to four years and is described on the listing as being ‘very popular’.
The nursery owner could not be reached for comment, but a member of staff said: “There are lots of layers to the story, and it is not my place to comment on that but we are all really sad, really sad.”
The latest 2022 Ofsted inspection rates the school as ‘Outstanding’.
The report identifies 55 children as attending the school and 11 members of staff providing funded early education.
It is not known what will happen to children or members of staff, although the listing indicates that converting the school to a residential property is a possibility.
The advert says: “Spanning CIRCA 3000 sq ft this property could make a fabulous home with some creativity and architectural changes.
“The property is well presented throughout and would offer a fabulous chance to create YOUR OWN DREAM home.”
