A Swindon craft brewery is doing so well it needs new and larger premises.

And the move will allow it to create a new drinking space for beer lovers.

The Hop Kettle Brewery operates from a unit in Hawksworth Industrial Estate in the North Star area of town just north of the railway line.

The company has applied to be able to use a larger unit in the trading estate. And that will also allow it to install a tap room, allowing drinkers to sample the ales and beers produced in the very same room.

The company began its business with just its brewery and a tap room in its first industrial unit.

But it now runs two pubs in Old Town, the Tap & Brew in Devizes Road and the Eternal Optimist also in Devizes Road, but in the storeys above Los Gatos at the junction with Victoria Road and Wood Street.

It has also expanded outside Swindon, opening The Hop Kettle in Cirencester and a bar of the same name in Gloucester Docks.

The drawings submitted as part of the application show that the brewing equipment would be housed on the ground floor in about three-fifths of the unit, with the tap room with a bar and seats and tables in the other part, and upstairs there would also be more seating and lavatories.
