The following cases were heard at Swindon Magistrates' Court this week.

TOWN CENTRE: Keri Hughes, of Birch Street, has been sentenced for possessing a blade in a public place.

The 53-year-old indicated a plea of guilty to having a kitchen knife while on Welton Road on August 7, 2023.

She received a community order that requires her to carry out up to 20 rehabilitation activity days and pay a £120 fine as well as £85 in court costs plus £114 to fund victim services.

MALMESBURY: Martin Coombs, of Hardie Close in Tetbury, has been sentenced for drug driving.

The 36-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Volkswagen Transporter along Park Road in Malmesbury on August 22, 2023, while having seven micrograms of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol per litre of blood in his system.

He has been banned from driving for 12 months, fined £710, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs plus £284 to fund victim services.

ST ANDREWS RIDGE: Lauren Bulley, of Renoir Close, has been sentenced for assault by beating of an emergency worker.

The 20-year-old indicated pleas of guilty to hitting two male police officers on November 7 and 8, 2023, respectively.

She has been fined £120 altogether and ordered to pay £85 in court costs.

WALCOT: Martyn Clark, of Frobisher Drive, has been sentenced for theft.

The 46-year-old indicated a plea of guilty to stealing a parcel containing clothing worth £235 from a man in Swindon on December 28. 2023.

He must pay £235 in compensation as well as a £300 fine and £85 in court costs.

GRANGE PARK: Brian Bingham, of Marney Road, has been sentenced for theft from a shop.

The 30-year-old indicated pleas of guilty to stealing perfume worth £269.94 from TK Maxx on November 22, 2023, and vapes worth £99.96 from Infinity Mist on the same date.

He must pay back the value of the stolen goods in compensation.

SWINDON: Richard Turner, of Selwood Gardens in Stanwell, has been sentenced for driving without insurance.

It was proved in the 50-year-old's absence that he committed the offence in a Ford Transit on County Road on February 6, 2023.

He received a £660 fine and six penalty points on his driving licence, and must also pay £90 in court costs as well as £264 to fund victim services.

WROUGHTON: Finley Bailey, of Headley Close, has been sentenced for drink driving.

The 20-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Ford Fiesta along Downs View Road on February 17, 2024,  after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in the defendant's breath, namely 56 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit.

He has been banned from driving for 36 months, fined £369, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs as well as £148 to fund victim services.

CHIPPENHAM: Karen Willcox, of Stapleford Close, has been sentenced for drink driving.

The 66-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Fiat 500 along Avenue La Fleche on September 12, 2023, after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in her blood, namely not less than197 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood, exceeded the prescribed limit.

The defendant has been banned from driving for 17 months, fined £120, and ordered to pay £95 in court costs as well as £48 to fund victim services.

MOTORWAY: Caleb Chanda, of Southcroft Road in Tooting, has been sentenced for speeding.

The 24-year-old drove a Volkswagen Golf along Junction 15 of the M4 on June 4, 2023, at more than 70mph.

The defendant has been banned from driving for six months, fined £80, and ordered to pay £90 in court costs plus £32 to fund victim services.
