Drivers have been hit by delays after roadworks combined with a crash to cause traffic chaos on the M4 near Swindon.
The hard shoulder and left-hand lane of the M4 eastbound have been closed on the approach to junction 15, at Swindon, by National Highways.
This lane closure was put in place on Friday, March 8, and roadworks are scheduled to continue in the area until March 16 at 6am.
The works have contributed to lengthy queues and delays on the M4 eastbound, between junctions 16 and 15, on Saturday afternoon.
At the time of writing, emergency services, including police and an air ambulance, were still on the scene of this incident.
During the early afternoon, drivers were tailed back on the M4 eastbound from Swindon towards Royal Wootton Bassett, while traffic was held in the other direction.
The roadworks are in place so National Highways can repair and resurface the eastbound carriageway.
Similar works are due to take place on other stretches of the motorway in Wiltshire during the next few weeks.
