The following cases were heard at Swindon Magistrates' Court earlier this month.
MOTORWAY: Zenon Voyiatzis, of Highgate West Hill in Camden, London, has been sentenced for speeding.
The 52-year-old changed his plea from not guilty to guilty regarding a charge of driving a Porsche Cayenne along the M4 near Swindon at more than 70mph on May 1, 2023.
He received an £800 fine and six penalty points on his driving licence and must also pay £85 in court costs plus £320 to fund victim services.
FRESHBROOK: John Dougherty, of Crawford Close, has been sentenced for failing to stop after a road accident.
The 61-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Vauxhall Insignia away without stopping on Link Avenue on August 20, 2023, when the bumper of a Mercedes 200 was scratched and damaged and the front wing bumper was damaged.
He received an £80 fine and five penalty points on his driving licence, and must also pay £85 in court costs as well as £32 to fund victim services.
FRESHBROOK: Ryan Hawkins, of Castle Dore, has been sentenced for assault by beating.
The 27-year-old changed his plea to guilty regarding a charge of hitting a woman in Swindon on May 31, 2023.
He received a £1,012 fine and a six-month restraining order, and must also pay £205 in court costs as well as £405 to fund victim services.
TOWN CENTRE; Cane Williams, of Ingleby Road in Ilford, has been sentenced for causing racially aggravated harassment, alarm, or distress.
The 23-year-old was found guilty in his absence of using threatening or abusive words or behaviour towards someone at Swindon train station on January 3, 2024.
He has been fined £440 and ordered to pay £85 in court costs.
STRATTON: Ben Reid, of Highworth Road, has been sentenced for three offences.
The 36-year-old changed his plea to guilty regarding a charge of assault by beating which was committed against a female victim in Swindon on October 30, 2023.
He also indicated a plea of guilty to having cannabis on him on December 17, 2023, and pleaded guilty to broke a bail condition that prevented him from contacting the assault victim on March 8, 2024 after being released on bail on December 19, 2023.
The defendant has been fined £162, the Class B substance has been forfeited and destroyed, and he must also pay £250 in court costs as well as £97 to fund victim services.
TROWBRIDGE: Cosmin-Dan Tamas, of Brettenham Road in Enfield, has been sentenced for theft from a shop.
The 42-year-old indicated a plea of guilty to stealing food worth £648.35 from Tesco in Trowbridge on March 8, 2024.
He received a £120 fine and must pay £120 in court costs.
CORSHAM: Mark Cousins, of St Whytes Road in Knowle, Bristol, has been sentenced for theft from a shop.
The 56-year-old pleaded guilty to stealing food worth £70 from the Co-op in Corsham on September 17, 2023.
He must pay the value of the stolen goods back in compensation as well as a £120 fine and £40 in court costs.
ERLESTOKE: Billie Martin, of Brigstocke Road in Bristol, has been sentenced for assaulting an emergency service worker.
The 25-year-old indicated a plea of guilty to beating a female prison officer in Erlestoke Prison on September 1, 2023.
This offence – which, court documents note, involved spitting at the prison officer - has added six weeks to the defendant’s jail sentence as well as a required payment of £154 to fund victim services.
