A serial shoplifter has been sentenced after taking a haul worth hundreds of pounds.

Terri Spellman, of Moredon Park, pleaded guilty to nine counts of theft from a shop at Swindon Magistrates Court on March 7.

The 33-year-old stole food worth £83.13 from a Swindon Co-op on November 12, 2023, returned to the supermarket to steal food worth £53.95 on November 18, then stole laundry and food items worth £139.50 altogether on November 19, then shoplifted more food worth £98.10 on November 20, before returning again to take laundry, food, and baby items worth £91 in total on November 21, and finally stealing £54 worth of food on November 25.

On December 5, 2023, Spellman stole health and beauty items worth £35.50 from Savers Health and Beauty as well as food worth £100 from a Swindon Tesco.

She also admitted to stealing pet food worth £72.83 from a Swindon Asda on March 6, 2024.

The defendant received a community order that includes a two-week electronically monitored curfew that requires her to remain at her home address between 8pm and 8am for 14 days as well as carry out six months of drug rehabilitation and up to 20 other rehabilitation activity days.

Due to the defendant’s limited means, there was no order to pay compensation. The payment of £114 to fund victim services will be deducted from her benefits.
