A huge number of vehicle break-ins in Swindon have caused police to issue an official warning to residents.
In February, Wiltshire Police first warned locals in the town centre and Broadgreen areas after several cars, particularly taxis, were reported to have been broken into.
But despite officers warning people to stay vigilant, break-ins are continuing with a huge number of reports being filed every day.
The most recent break-in took place between 6 and 6.30am on Monday, March 11, in the Sandringham Road area when a locked car parked on a driveway was broken into.
Officers say that money was stolen and a dash cam was damaged during the break-in.
“We continue to pursue a number of leads in relation to the reports we’ve received, however, we’d like to continue to remind people of the importance of ensuring security of vehicles and removing all valuables from inside," said PC Stacey McGarry.
“Taxis are continuing to be targeted so we’d urge drivers to make efforts to remove anything on a vehicle which makes it identifiable as a taxi where possible. This will help make it less of a target for these criminals.
“We will be continuing with our enquiries and would urge anyone with information, including dash cam or doorbell footage to get in touch.”
