Tesco has become the second UK supermarket today (March 16) unable to deliver some customers' online grocery orders due to "technical issues".
A spokesperson said: "We are working to fix a technical issue which has meant we have had to cancel some online orders that were due for delivery today. We’re sorry for the inconvenience.”
Shoppers on social media have been sharing their concerns over the whereabouts of their deliveries.
On X, formerly Twitter, one person tweeted: "I can't eat your apologies! The fact that the money you took won't now be refunded until at least Wed, means I have NO FOOD until I can get my money back and place another online order. What do you suggest I eat between now and then?"
Tesco apologises to customers due to 'technical issues' cancelling grocery deliveries
@Tesco hi, any reason why our shopping this evening has been cancelled with no reason or option to rebook? furious!

@tesco responded: "Hi, We're really sorry but we can't deliver your groceries today because of a technical issue with our system. You haven't been charged for the order. We're sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this will cause."
Another asked: "@Tesco can you give a reason at all or? I just gave birth a couple of days ago so I can’t really get out to get anything now so will be without food until the rescheduled delivery tomorrow if you don’t cancel that as well."
Only a small proportion of Tesco orders due for delivery on Saturday were impacted, it is understood.
Tesco customers received an email if their order was disrupted, and if it was cancelled they were not charged.
In-store shopping and placing orders on the app and website are not believed to have been affected.
This follows on from Sainsbury's who released a statement earlier, confirming they would “not be able to fulfil the vast majority of today's Groceries Online deliveries" due to the same problem.
The supermarket also reported issues with contactless payments at some stores due to an error with an overnight software update.
Argos, which is owned by Sainsbury’s, has also been affected by the software update, meaning customers may have issues with ordering new items or collecting orders in-store.
It said there may be delays in fulfilling orders placed on Saturday.
