Thames Water has given the latest update on the Mead Way road closure following severe flooding.
A burst water main early on the morning of Friday, March 15, caused flooding to both Mead Way and Great Western Way.
But while Great Western Way reopened quickly, Mead Way remained closed over the weekend as Thames Water staff worked to fix the issue.
The busy West Swindon route has been closed in both directions from the Stonehill Green turning to the Meads roundabout.
But Thames Water has now provided an update, with a spokesperson confirming that work will continue today, after which the road will reopen.
The spokesperson said: “The repair was completed on Friday and the Great Western Way was reopened.
“Mead Way remains closed.
“Reinstatement is taking place today, once completed Mead Way will be re-opened.”
Police blocked off the road on Friday morning after it became flooded and like a river, according to motorists.
The flooding caused severe traffic on the day and further traffic throughout the weekend, with traffic continuing into Monday.
Meanwhile, work on Wootton Bassett Road by Thames Water is causing disruption to the nearby surrounding area.
There was heavy traffic in the Rodbourne, Cheney Manor, and Wichelstowe areas on Monday morning.
