A celebrity chef’s Wiltshire hotel has been handed a new food hygiene rating after an inspection.
The Rudloe Arms Hotel near Corsham, owned by top chef Marco Pierre White, was visited by officers from Wiltshire Council’s Food and Safety Team on February 15.
This visit, which came a year after the hotel and restaurant’s previous inspection, saw the venue retain a four-out-of-five rating.
The gothic hotel, which is set in 14 acres of countryside, has previously been criticised for its food and service by online reviewers who compared it to John Cleese’s Fawlty Towers.
But inspectors found that the hygienic handling of food at the premises, including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling, and storage, was “very good.”
The cleanliness and condition of the facilities and building were also rated during the visit and were judged to be of a “good” standard.
There was room for improvement in the management of food safety, however, which was rated as “generally satisfactory.”
This includes the systems or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat.
The Rudloe Arms was approached for comment.
Their website promises guests “good old-fashioned hospitality and delicious food” at the hotel’s restaurant.
