Debenhams was a popular part of Swindon's town centre for decades.
The Parade-based store had welcomed customers since the 1960s when it was Bon Marche.
Images from the Adver archives show snapshots of shoppers from the 1990s and the early years of the 21st century, before the superstore closed for good just before the first lockdown of the 2020 coronavirus pandemic.
While other stores reopened after the restrictions lifted, Debenhams remained closed as the company was unable to reach a deal with landlords Meadow Residential. Aorund 150 employees lost their jobs.
In its heyday, along with shelves stocked with top of the range cosmetics and racks of fashionable clothes, the shop also included a cafe for visitors to rest and refuel before they headed home as well as a play area for little ones to pass the time while the grown-ups explored the aisles.
The brutalist building is now being used for new residential apartments on the higher floors - which used to be office space before being left empty for years - and a self-storage centre will be set up on the lower levels while Fleming Way undergoes a major transformation which is expected to be finished next year.
