Wiltshire Police put out a CCTV appeal after an unattended phone was picked up at Superdrug in Swindon.
The incident, which happened on February 22, took place in Swindon town centre and police released a CCTV appeal asking to speak to a woman involved.
"We would like to identify the woman in this CCTV image," said a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police.
"Officers would like to talk to her in relation to an incident in which an unattended mobile phone was taken from Superdrug in Swindon town centre on February 22.
Wiltshire Police has now removed this appeal and confirmed that the woman pictured was not at fault, and had been searching for a team leader to return the phone to.
The woman's image has been removed.
