A Stratton manufacturing plant has undergone many changes over the years.
Before becoming home to BMW and Mini's assembly lines, the factory bordering Bridge End Road and Gipsy Lane produced Rover vehicles.
These images from the Adver archive include a black-and-white aerial view of the site from the 1970s, before Rover took charge of it, as well as some colour snaps of the exterior and a peek inside the enormous interior.
In summer 1997, major works were carried out to make room for new industrial presses. Just over a year earlier, in January 1996, Princess Margaret paid a visit to the plant and greeted staff.
Did you used to work there? Do you have any fond memories? Is there anything you would like us to dig out from our files for the Nostalgia pages?
