A drink driver from Swindon has been banned from the roads after a member of the public reported him to the police.
At around 4.50am on March 17, a member of the public spotted a man driving in an erratic manner on the M4 and around Swindon and reported him to the police.
Ion Tintiuc, 48, was seen exiting the M4 and then driving to his home in Homington Avenue, Swindon.
When police officers responded to the call and attended Tintiuc's property, they found that he was significantly over the drink-drive limit.
He was arrested and charged with drink driving at his home.
Appearing before Swindon Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, April 2, the erratic driver pleaded guilty to drink driving and has now been disqualified from driving for 12 months.
The man was also fined £300 and required to pay a victim surcharge of £120 and court costs of £85, leaving him with a total bill of £505.
Wiltshire Police have now praised the member of the public for taking the initiative to call the police and get a dangerous driver off the road.
“This case shows the importance of information and intelligence from members of the public," said Luke Hobbs, Roads Policing Officer.
“I’d like to thank the member of the public who had seen Tintiuc swerving all over the road and reported him to us.
“There can never be any excuse for drink driving."
