Swift action has been taken after a huge 'pothole' opened up in a Swindon street.
A member of the public noticed the defect on April 2 and reported it to Swindon Borough Council to be fixed.
The cavity appeared on the junction of Stafford Street and Raggett Street, and was described by the member of the public as looking like a 'proper sinkhole at least half a metre deep, maybe getting on for a metre'.
They returned to the area later that day and saw that the local authority's Highways team had already fenced off the offending hollow.
"They were quick off the mark on responding to that report," the member of the public said.
"Makes sense. It's deep enough that you could lose a toddler down it!"
Photos were taken that show that bright orange crash barriers have been installed in the middle of the road, surrounding the potentially dangerous hole.
Yellow lines had also been painted on the road covering a larger area than the hole itself, indicating work to fix it is on the way.
Currently, the One Network Map which documents planned roadworks in the area doesn't show anything for the area on the junction of Stafford Street and Raggett Street.
