A man has been arrested on suspicion of stealing a car after he led police on a chase through Swindon.
Wiltshire Police officers were out on patrol in the Tadpole Garden Village area when they spotted a BMW being driven with no lights on during the early hours of Friday, April 5.
Officers attempted to stop the car, but when the driver refused to stop a police chase was authorised.
Officers followed the driver at high speeds from Tadpole Garden Village, to Blunsdon and then up to Highworth.
The car was eventually stopped by police on the A361 near Highworth and a man in his 20s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.
Further enquiries have now found that the registered owner of the vehicle was not aware that his car had been stolen from outside his home.
The man, who has not yet been named by police, was taken to custody at Gablecross for questioning.
