Volunteers at a local museum in Swindon have announced it will reopen with brand new exhibits in celebration of the museum's 20th anniversary.
Chiseldon Museum, which is located at the Old Chapel on Butts Road, first opened in 2004 as a way to preserve the history of Chiseldon and Burderop Park.
The Swindon parish is steeped in history, with a name dating as far back as the 9th century when it featured in Alfred the Great's will.
The museum, which is run entirely by volunteers, closes yearly during the winter months of September to April, but this year the reopening will be complete with brand-new history displays and an extra special celebration.
The grand reopening for 2024 will take place on Saturday, April 6 from 2-4pm, and the museum will remain open every Saturday afternoon at those times until September 28.
"Our museum is all about the history of Chiseldon including the railway through the village, Burderop Park and Chiseldon Camp," explained a spokesperson for the Chiseldon Local History Group.
"Some of the exhibits are permanent, such as the timeline and the Iron Age Cauldron replica, but this year we will have some exciting new exhibits on show in honour of our 20th birthday.
"Although now part of the Borough of Swindon, the parish retains much as its rural character."
You can find out more about the rich history of Chiseldon including prehistoric trackway and military camps by visiting the museum on Butts Road.
