A motorist from Swindon was charged with exceeding the speed limit on the motorway by driving exactly 69 miles per hour.
Chelsea Roberts, 28, of Coriander Way, Swindon, was driving in Rotherham, South Yorkshire on the M1 motorway northbound carriageway between junctions 33 and 34 when she was caught doing 69mph, court documents show.
The charge states that Roberts was driving Mazda 3 on September 1, 2023 when she pinged an automatic camera device by exceeding the temporary 60mph speed limit by 8mph.
The national speed limit for motorways is 70mph, but there can be a temporary variable limit in place that drivers need to abide by.
Roberts' case was handled by Swindon Magistrates' Court on March 27 this year.
It took place behind closed doors via the Single Justice Procedure and she indicated a guilty plea.
She was convicted of the offence by magistrates and fined a total of £142.
She was fined £66, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £26 and costs of £50 and she was given three points on her license.
It has been agreed that she will pay £20 per month commencing April 24.
