A warning has been issued after dog owners have left poo behind on a local field.
Wroughton Parish Council has issued a statement saying it has 'received complaints' about dog mess not being picked up from Wroughton Field.
It added that the job of picking up after people's pets is being left to the Wroughton Football Club team.
A spokesperson for the local authority said: "We have heard that this careless behaviour has impacted the enjoyment and health and safety of Wroughton Football Club who have to continually pick up mess prior to their games.
"There is no excuse not to pick up after your dog. It is the responsibility of the dog owners to pick up after their dog.
"Wroughton Parish Council has provided numerous multipurpose bins in the area for everyone’s benefit including dog owners."
Dog owners have been urged to 'play their part' in keeping public spaces safe for both children and adults.
The council spokesperson added: "As the weather improves there is an increased likelihood that young children (who are far less aware) will play on the Weir Field and other public open spaces and if dog mess is ingested it can cause serious health conditions which include Toxocariasis and other conditions including Campylobacteriosis and Salmonella, so please pick up the poop!"
