A driver has been fined hundreds of pounds for his vehicle being more than 700kg over its maximum legal limit.
The vehicle transporter was carrying an Audi Q5 on its back, bringing it to 3,500kg - 20 per cent more than its plated weight.
The driver has also been prohibited from moving and DVSA Enforcement also highlighted some vehicle defects.
Wiltshire's Roads Policing Unit, who stopped the driver, posted on X: “Another day, another overweight vehicle transporter for the Road Protection Unit.
“This vehicle is just over 4.2t carrying an Audi Q5 on the back. Driver with now £600 in fines and prohibited from moving.
“DVSA Enforcement highlighted vehicle defects which also need to be rectified.”
The GOV.UK website says: “Maximum authorised mass (MAM) means the weight of a vehicle or trailer including the maximum load that can be carried safely when it’s being used on the road.”
“It will be listed in the owner’s manual and is normally shown on a plate or sticker fitted to the vehicle.”
You can be punished with a fine, which varies depending on the circumstances or the severity of the offence.
