Dramatic scenes on the M4 led to a car being boxed in by armed police and suspect apprehended after a dog-led chase.
The incident began on the M4 eastbound near junction 16, Swindon at around 10.30pm.
Wiltshire Police's Armed Response Group (ARG) had received 'intelligence' that a vehicle was causing concerns because of the manner in which it was being driven.
But when units tried to pull over the car in question, the driver failed to stop and was then chased by ARG as well as units from Wiltshire's Roads Policing Unit (RPU) and Thames Valley Police.
The chase continued until the fleeing vehicle was forcibly halted via a tactical stop at Junction 12 for Theale, near Reading.
The man then fled from the vehicle on foot, but was successfully detained by Wiltshire Police dog Conan.
A spokesperson said: "The suspect, aged in his 30s and from Swansea, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving without insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.
"He then failed a drugs wipe and was further arrested for driving under the influence of cocaine.
"He remains in custody for questioning."
