A retail chain with branches in Wiltshire has launched a new competition aimed at supporting community projects - and it could net lucky shoppers a £500 discount.
Co-op is introducing a new nationwide initiative The Winners Share It All, to boost its commitment to local grassroot projects, running from now until to Tuesday, December 31 2024.
Each month, 10 existing and new Co-op member-owners will have the chance to win £5,000 for a Local Community Fund and £500 off their Co-op shop.
Rebecca Birkbeck, director of community and membership participation at Co-op said: “We’re thrilled to be launching the new ‘The Winners Share It All’ activity, as we continue to offer strong support for local communities and meaningful value for our member owners.
“Our Local Community Fund supports lots of local causes and community groups in Swindon with much needed financial support. An extra £5,000 boost can make a huge difference to these incredible grassroot projects, enabling them to provide important services, support and activities for their community. It’s great that our members can support this whilst also getting a welcome boost themselves with £500 towards their daily shop.”
The fund has supported 36,000 causes across the UK since it began in 2016.
To be automatically entered into the monthly prize draw, members must spend a minimum of £5 in store or online, swipe their card and have a Local Community Fund selected.
Each £5 shop will count as one entry into the competition.
The new initiative will contribute £500,000 to Co-op Local Community Fund causes.
Rebecca added: “Customers can sign up in-store or online for just £1 and start saving on their daily shop while supporting local groups in their area.”
