An Audi driver has been arrested in Swindon after allegedly testing positive for cocaine while behind the wheel.
Officers from Wiltshire Police’s Road Policing Unit (RPU) stopped a visibly damaged Audi in Swindon on the night of Thursday, April 11.
The stop came after the same vehicle allegedly failed to stop for police officers earlier in the week.
Police carried out a roadside drug wipe and the driver reportedly tested positive for cocaine use.
They were subsequently arrested.
The driver will also face a traffic offence report for failing to repair the damage to the car, which police believe occurred in a separate crash.
Police provided an update on the incident via the Wiltshire Specialist Operations Twitter account, which provides information on the activities of RPU and the force’s Armed Response Units.
A spokesperson said: “RPU stopped this Audi last night in Swindon, having been reported to make off from police earlier in the week.
“Driver positive for cocaine and arrested.
“Traffic offence report for dangerous condition owing to unrepaired road traffic collision damage.”
