Swindon Borough Council planners have been considering a number of new applications this week - here's our regular round-up of what's in the pipeline where you live.
ELGIN: A car showroom which had installed a new, illuminated sign without permission has been given consent to keep it.
Infinity Motors in Stanley House in Bramble Road in the Techno Trading Estate can keep the large sign above its door, which is lit up at night.
TOWN CENTRE: Supermarket giant Aldi has applied for permission to replace the plant building at its branch in Drove Road. The German company says it wants to put in new plant, including cooling machines, to improve the efficiency of the store’s operation.
It will also put a new fence around the building if its application is approved.
BROADGREEN: Swindon Mosque at 124-15 Broad Street has been given the go-ahead to build an extension to its first floor at the rear of the building.
The mosque will use the space as an increased teaching and meeting facility, and it says it will also increase the useable prayer space during services.
There is no intention to increase the number of worshippers who can be accommodated by the mosque.
The plans were revised during the planning process to lessen the impact of the extension on residents nearby.
WROUGHTON: Some of the land that used to surround the former Oak and Ash residential home in Lane in Wroughton can be used as gardens for new houses.
Developer Jaspal Gill has been given permission to change the planning designation for the land which comes to about 10 acres. It will nor be classified as residential garden land. Mr Gill has permission to build four family homes on the site, fronting onto Overtown Lane and the land will be used to create back gardens for the houses.
WANBOROUGH: The owners of The Bungalow, in Chapel Lane, Mr and Mrs P and S Beech, have been given the go-ahead to convert the integrated garage into accommodation. And to build a side extension.
The garage walls will be raised a little, and the flat roof replaced with a pitched roof to match the existing property.
