A single family home in the centre of Swindon can be converted into another shared house of multiple occupation.
Developer Mr Dogra, who initially applied for permission to create four-single bed flats out of the three-bed house has been given consent to extend 27 County Road and revamp it with eight single bedrooms.
The plans show that the ground floor would host two bedrooms one at the front and one at the rear of the property, with a kitchen diner and living room in between.
One the first floor there would be three bedrooms and, in the loft, here there is now one large bedroom, there would be two.
All but one would have an ensuite lavatory sink and shower, with the occupant of the smallest room having a short walk across the first floor landing to their allocated shower and toilet room.
South Swindon parish council objected to the first plan on the grounds of insufficient cycle parking. It did not make any comment on the revision to an HMO scheme, but it is on record as objecting to many HMOs in its patch saying there are too many.
Planning officers recommended approval saying: “The property would provide a good standard of amenity for eight occupants both in terms of indoor space and the outdoor garden space. Such a level of occupancy would ensure there is sufficient space for car and cycle parking.”
