A Designer Outlet food bar has received a new food hygiene rating after being warned “major improvement” was necessary last year.
Aya Sushi, which has been in Swindon’s Designer Outlet since 2020, was slapped with a one-out-of-five food hygiene rating after inspectors visited the eatery in July 2023.
But now the business has been reinspected and its score has been boosted to a three-out-of-five.
This means that hygiene standards at the food bar are “generally satisfactory.”
The business was rated based on its handling of food, and staff were found to have “good” standards of hygiene when preparing or storing food products.
Inspectors also examined the cleanliness and condition of the food bar, and staff’s management of food safety.
Aya Sushi was found to have “generally satisfactory” standards in both these areas.
A spokesperson for Aya Sushi did not wish to comment on the sushi bar’s latest food hygiene rating.
Last year, owner Marcio De Souza told the Adver that paperwork issues and the temperature of the fridges were the cause of the previous poor rating.
He said: “I have spoken to the staff since, and they now know to show the correct paperwork in the future and the fridges have been corrected since too.”
