Great Western Hospital’s restaurant has received a new food hygiene rating.
Inspectors had a look around the facilities provided by Serco Health in the Swindon Intermediate Care Centre on Monday, April 8.
The results of this visit have now been published on the Food Standards Agency website.
Hygienic food handling - including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage – was considered to be very good.
The cleanliness and condition of the facilities and building to enable good hygiene – including having appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control – was also deemed to be very good.
The management of food safety – the system or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, the evidence that staff know about food safety, and that the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future – was very good, too.
So, overall, the cafe at The Great Western Hospital on Marlborough Road in Swindon received the highest possible food hygiene score of five out of five - making it 'very good'.
This result means that of Swindon's 268 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 232 (87 per cent) have ratings of five while none have ratings of zero.
