A housebuilding company is looking for young people to design a house for the future.
Redrow South West has launched the ‘Archi-tot of the future’ role giving four to sixteen-year-olds the opportunity to showcase their imagination and create a sustainable and energy-efficient house.
The competition is part of their 50th birthday celebrations and the house will need to be suitable for 2074 – fifty years from now.
Sian Smith, Sales Director at Redrow South West, said: “What better way to celebrate the creative talent of local youngsters and showcase the wonderful imagination and creative abilities of the next generation?
"Who knows, we could even put in a good word for the winner to become one of our new apprentices where they might find themselves building their design in years to come!”
“From convertible roofs for those hot summer nights, to self-tinting windows and robot gardeners who mow the lawn, we’re looking for the most adventurous and ambitious designs.”
The successful youngster will join other winners from Redrow regions across the UK later this year, where one overall winner will be announced.
There is a £100 prize up for grabs and the winner’s school or college will also receive £150 in artwork vouchers, as well as their design being planted in a time capsule ready to be built in fifty years.
The deadline for submitting entries for the South West’s ‘Archi-tot of the future’ is Friday 17 May.
