A new Indian tapas and cocktail bar set to open in a former betting shop has announced it is 'opening soon' as new signage appears.

Tikka Tikka will be situated in the former Coral betting shop on Victoria Road and is being opened by Aldred Rodriques, director of Kutting Chai - Bombay Street Food.

The business owner confirmed to the Adver in December 2023 when plans were put forward that the new restaurant would not be another Kutting Chai but instead 'something different'.

It has now been confirmed that the site will be home to an Indian tapas and cocktail bar.

Although there is still no fixed date for the opening of Tikka Tikka, and renovation work is still underway inside, the owner has hinted that the bar is 'opening soon'.

Plans indicate the restaurant will bring six full-time and three part-time jobs to the town and will open from 8am to 11pm Monday to Sunday.

Although Tikka Tikka has yet to open, locals already anticipate good things as it is being run by an award-winning director.

Sister business Kutting Thai won the MTM Good Food Award in 2020 and was a finalist for the MTM Best Restaurant Award in the same year.

In 2022, the business also won a Trip Advisor Travelers Choice award for best restaurant.
