Asda has responded to concerns raised about the safety of a broken fountain near one of its biggest Swindon stores.
Earlier in the week, the Adver reported on complaints about the state of a water feature outside the Asda Wal-Mart in the Orbital Shopping Park, which has been left in a shoddy state for years.
Plans to repair the steps and fountain were only partly fulfilled, and shoppers have spotted growing gaps between the paving stones.
A petition at www.change.org/asdafountains is calling for the retail giant to carry out the promised repairs to the area before someone injures themselves on the safety hazard.
The only apparent change made to the fountain in the last 12 months appears to be that orange barriers block access to parts of the site, though they are often knocked over.
On Wednesday, a spokesperson for the supermarket said: "We can confirm that we are working towards a long-term solution for the fountain area outside of our Haydon store, and we look forward to sharing our plans in the near future.”
