A drunk driver has been banned from the roads for more than three years after being caught while under the influence in Swindon.
Jack Moran, of Ringwood Close, pleaded guilty to drink driving, using a vehicle without insurance and without a valid licence when he appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court on April 24.
This related to offences committed on April 7, when roads policing officers on patrol in Princes Street stopped the 34-year-old’s grey BMW X3.
Moran had no driving licence and officers noticed a strong smell of liquor in the vehicle.
Police seized the BMW and arrested the motorist after he failed a roadside breath test.
After being charged and summoned to court, the defendant received a 40-month driving disqualification, and ordered to carry out 70 hours of unpaid work as well as pay court costs of £85 plus a £114 surcharge to fund victim services.
Roads Policing Sgt Will Ayres said: "Moran was not displaying L plates and was not supervised at the time we stopped his vehicle.
“He had no licence and was over the drink drive limit.
“He put himself, and other road users and pedestrians at risk.
“We will not tolerate this behaviour and will continue to target those road users who fail to abide by the law."
