A nursery school which closed suddenly at the end of March could be converted back into a large house.
Westgate Nursery is on the very edge of Highworth on Cricklade Road to the south west of the town.
Parents of the more than 50 children who attended the nursery, rated as outstanding in 2022 by Ofsted, learned it would be closing in a letter sent to them in in early March.
At the time the owner Sandria Murkin said it was not financially viable to keep the business going.
The building was put up for sale for an asking price of £725,000.
Now a planning application has been submitted to turn the building into a large family home.
The applicant Elizabeth Thomas is seeking prior approval from Swindon Borough Council for the scheme.
The submitted plans show the ground floor would have a large open-plan living room, with conservatory attached, with access to a kitchen. There would also be a large bedroom with kitchenette and what is described specifically as a “carer’s bedroom and living room”.
On the upper storey there would be four bedrooms, two bathrooms, an extra lavatory and an office.
