There are cancellations on all Wiltshire rail routes as Great Western Railway warns of the beginning of six days of strike action by drivers
Great Western Railway (GWR) will face strikes on May 8, but on other days there will be ‘industrial action short of strike’ and strikes on other operators.
GWR said: “Train services running across the whole Great Western Railway network may be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until the end of the day on 11/05/24.
It advised customers: “From Monday 6th to Saturday 11th May, members of the ASLEF union are engaging in Industrial Action short of a strike.
“This is likely to result in some short-notice cancellations or alterations to services across the GWR network. Please check both your outward and return journey at https://www.journeycheck.com/greatwesternrailway/ before setting out for the latest information.
“When doing so, please check the entirety of your journey, given that other operators' services may also be affected by this Industrial Action.”
Which Wiltshire services are running?
On the May 8 strike day, Wiltshire services will only run on to Westbury to Swindon (peak times only).
Why are they striking?
ASLEF union members are striking over pay and working conditions. They say that some ASLEF drivers haven’t had a pay rise in five years.
