The old underpass below Fleming Way has been completely demolished.
New photos show diggers at work in a fenced-off area around the bottom end of The Parade.
The underpass that once connected the shopping street to Newbridge Square and the central bus station closed last August as part of ongoing work to transform Fleming Way.
Since then, shoppers have been diverted around the building site while efforts are made to lower the entire road to the same level as The Parade.
Much of the main route through the town centre has been turned to rubble, though the old underpass could still be seen.
In recent weeks, a section near the old Debenhams has been closed off to pedestrians so that the remains of the walkable subway can be removed and replaced with new paving and landscaping.
Elsewhere, tarmac has been laid on new sections of road surface at the junction with Princes Street.
It is hoped that these developments - part of a £33m scheme - will make the area more vibrant and a better place for residents and visitors to the town centre to enjoy and spend time.
