When the popular Gaetano Italian restaurant in Swindon closed its doors, the owner gave hints that the site would be passed to new owners.
Carlo Sibila, the old owner who decided to take a break from hospitality, said the Victoria Road building would remain an Italian restaurant.
Signs have now been put up confirming Carlo’s promises, showing the name of the replacement and teasing its incoming arrival.
It is to be called Grano Lab, and is ‘opening soon’ to sell fresh pasta and Neapolitan pizza.
Carlo said: “I've sold Gaetano to some young, ambitious guys with a fantastic project for the place. I'm confident they'll do well and bring new things to Swindon. I've left the place in good hands.”
An Instagram page for the incoming business states: “We, at Grano Lab, are an Italian restaurant located in Swindon, offering a unique dining experience for Italian food lovers.
“Our focus is on serving fresh, homemade Italian dishes, including Neapolitan pizza, homemade pasta, Italian wine selection, and authentic Italian desserts.
“With our team, we strive to provide our customers with a beautiful experience.
“Grano Lab was founded with the vision of bringing innovation to the local dining scene in Swindon.
“We take pride in our wood-fired and gas pizza oven, which ensures that our pizzas are cooked to perfection, and our commitment to making fresh pasta in-house daily.”
