Swindon is set to enjoy the hottest day of the year so far this weekend - with temperatures to rival Ibiza.
Some parts of the country could see temperatures as high as 26C on Saturday (May 11) after weeks of gloomy weather that have dominated the start of spring.
The Met Office has predicted the sunshine will reach Swindon on Saturday afternoon after the weather continues to improve throughout Thursday and Friday.
Temperatures are set to reach 21C from 1pm until at 4pm, with a warm spring evening and sunny intervals expected at 7pm with highs of 19C.
On Sunday temperatures will peak as Swindon is predicted to be as hot as Ibiza and even hotter than Mykonos - with highs of 22C.
But the sunshine isn’t set to last long, with cloud and light showers forecast on Monday and Tuesday next week, although temperatures are still likely to be in the high teens.
According to the Met Office’s long-range weather forecast, Sunday is likely to be the last widely dry and fine day for a while, with temperatures higher than average for this time of year.
They also predict rainfall amounts could be above average in most areas with some especially heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.
As the weather becomes changeable across the country, temperatures will fall closer to average for May.
