Police have warned drivers to avoid a busy Swindon road after a van became stuck under a low bridge.
Officers closed Corporation Street after a Keith Elkington Transport van became wedged under the Whitehouse Bridge, between Station Road and Great Western Way, on Thursday, May 9.
The van appears to have turned onto the route from Station Road before becoming stuck and blocking the road.
Police remain at the scene at the time of writing, and the road will be closed until recovery of the van is carried out.
A spokesperson for the force said: “Drivers please be aware that the Corporation Street between Station Road and Cockleberry Roundabout is currently closed after a van became stuck under the bridge.
“We are awaiting recovery.
“Please find alternate routes.”
There has been heavy traffic in the area throughout the afternoon as drivers attempt to avoid the blockage.
Traffic on Great Western Way remains slow while there are also significant queues on Station Road, Ocotal Way, and County Road.
Public transport users have also reported buses being diverted as a result of the closure, adding to traffic issues in the area.
