A large area on the outskirts of Swindon has been left without power after a fault.
People living in 18 homes in Eysey, a rural area on the outskirts of Cricklade, have been left in the dark after a power cut on Monday, May 13.
The loss of power was first reported in the SN6 postcode area at 10.28am, and SSEN says that despite its best efforts, power isn't expected to return until 7pm.
"We're very sorry for the power cut and we are aware of a fault on our main network affecting 18 homes," said a spokesperson for SSEN.
"This is affecting a large area and it's likely several streets are affected by the same outage.
"Our engineers are in the local area and working hard to get power restored as soon as possible.
"At this stage, based on initial investigations, we're aiming to restore power by 7pm on May 13."
The power cut has been caused by a fault in the overhead network near Cricklade, which is one of the most common causes of power cuts.
"In most cases, our engineers are able to restore power by simply replacing a fuse at the local substation, however if the fault is severe this may need full repairs," added the spokesperson for SSEN.
