Firefighters were called to a block of flats after a fire broke out on a balcony.
The blaze started at roughly 3.20pm at a four-storey block of flats on Seacole Crescent in Old Town.
Photos taken at the time showed thick black smoke billowing out of the side of the building.
Crews from several fire stations were called to the incident, with fire engines from Swindon, Westlea and Stratton St Margaret attending.
To prevent the spread of flames to neighbouring flats, firefighters stripped away cladding to ensure that there was no risk of that happening.
Crews used two breathing apparatus, a hose reel jet, a triple extension ladder, and a 13.5-metre ladder to extinguish the fire.
When the fire was out there appeared to be no major damage to the building, although a lot of black charring could be seen on the exterior walls.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue confirmed that the incident involved plastic and furniture on the balcony.
The emergency service also added that an ambulance was called for the occupant of the flat who was suffering from smoke inhalation.
