From the pictures you might think that this five-bedroom house is out in the countryside.
But this ‘substantial’ home is actually a five-minute walk from Swindon’s Old Town and all its bars and shops.
It is right on the edge of one of Swindon’s main parks, The Lawns, hence its name - Lawnside.
Despite already having enough private space for 10 cars, having a house by a park effectively gives you an even bigger garden right at your doorstep.
The agent, Chappells, says: “Lawnside is a substantial and unique family home nestled in a truly idyllic location surrounded by woodland and yet minutes from the heart of Old Town and its amenities.”
The gardens are one of the main attractions of this house, as they blend with the public park beyond the house’s perimeter.
Chappells says: “The gardens are a stunning feature of this property, mainly laid to lawn and stocked with an abundance of trees and shrubs affording total privacy.
“There is a raised patio/sun terrace enjoying the full view of the gardens and Lawn Woods beyond.”
The Lawns recently were host to the very first Swindon Circus Festival with jugglers, acrobats and comedians.
This would be a treat for children, who could watch the giant 8-foot stilt walkers wander past with their heads poking above the garden wall.
The listing continues: “The gardens are fully enclosed by Cotswold stone walling and wrap around the property, leading to the front where there is a detached double garage with workshop and gated parking for over 10 cars.”
The garden stretches to a third of an acre in total.
The house itself is modern but with traditional decorations, with wooden floors covered with rugs.
The most interesting room might be the library, with books lining the room and filling central units - your very own Waterstones.
The bathrooms, like everywhere else in the house, are full of light but the all-white fittings make them look even brighter.
The listing adds: “This impressive property offers flexible accommodation including four reception rooms, and a delightful conservatory which brings the outside in and is a sunny tranquil space to enjoy the stunning gardens and listen to the birdsong.”
However, birdsong and tranquillity come at a price - £950,000 to be precise. So although Wood Street is just around the corner, you might not be left with much money to spend there.
