Customers of one of Swindon's best-loved chippies have found a new favourite.
That's according to an insight given by a local fish and chip shop owner.
Carlos Freitas, who runs Lucy's Fish Bar on Penhill Drive, says customers of Phillip's have been coming to his shop since the owners of the Gorse Hill favourite announced they were leaving.
He said: “With Phillip’s closed in Gorse Hill, I have been getting quite a few customers from Gorse Hill.
“It helps a lot, especially as a small business.”
Lucy’s Fish Bar was rated number one in Swindon by online reviews, while Phillip’s was once rated as the Adver reader’s favourite.
Carlos said he knew the ex-owners of Phillip’s, Robin and Donna, who announced they would be closing the shop in April.
He said: “We swapped stock - whenever I run out of stuff, he would come here and collect it. If I run out I go there and collect.
“Yeah we have a good relation.”
Many of the fish bars is Swindon are communicating with each other, says Carlos.
He says he also works with the owners of Kingsdown Fish Bar, which he used to manage, and the chippies in St Andrew’s.
“It is like teamwork, to be honest," he said. "It is a good community.”
