The following cases were heard at Swindon Magistrates' Court this month.
OLD TOWN: Uplifter Nicholson, of Dammas Lane, has been sentenced for having a knife in a public place.
The 63-year-old indicated plea of guilty to having the blade in Swindon without good reason or lawful authority on April 2, 2024.
Nicholson received a community order that requires the defendant to carry out up to 20 rehabilitation activity days, pay a £120 fine, and have the knife taken away, as well as pay £85 in court costs plus £114 to fund victim services.
TOOTHILL: Michelle Common, of Stamford Close, has been sentenced for intentionally or recklessly causing a public nuisance.
The 28-year-old indicated a plea of guilty to causing the police to close a road in Swindon on April 28, 2024 by standing on a bridge without reasonable excuse, which obstructed some of the public.
She must pay a £40 fine and £16 to fund victim services.
PINEHURST: Luke Lynch, of Chestnut Avenue, has been sentenced for drink driving.
The 34-year-old had changed his plea from not guilty to guilty regarding a charge of driving a Volkswagen Crafter along Spittleborough Roundabout on the A3102 Swindon Road on July 26, 2023, after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in his blood, namely not less than 101 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood, exceeded the prescribed limit.
He has been banned from driving for 14 months, fined £519, and ordered to pay £200 in court costs plus £208 to fund victim services.
NORTH STAR: Uzoamaka Harrison, of North Star Avenue, has been sentenced for assault by beating of an emergency worker.
The 37-year-old changed their plea to guilty regarding an incident where the defendant hit a female police officer in Swindon on January 24, 2024.
Harrison must pay £50 compensation to her victim as well as a £346 fine plus £250 in court costs.
RODBOURNE: Rafal Knyba, of Padstow Road, has been sentenced for sending an offensive text message.
The 51-year-old pleaded guilty to sending the message - which was of an indecent, obscene or menacing character – in Swindon on August 18, 2023.
He has been fined £120, given a year-long restraining order against one person, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs as well as £48 to fund victim services.
SWINDON: James Rymer, of Sisson Road in Gloucester, has been sentenced for speeding.
The 38-year-old drove a Volvo V60 along the A419 northbound at more than 70mph on July 16, 2023.
He received four penalty points on his licence and a £637 fine, and must also pay £90 in court costs plus £253 to fund victim services.
TOWN CENTRE: Menino Fernandes, of Gladstone Street, has been sentenced for assault by beating.
The 56-year-old pleaded guilty to hitting a woman in Swindon on November 11, 2023.
He received a £350 fine and must pay £85 in court costs as well as £140 to fund victim services.
TOWN CENTRE: Rajib Roy, of Deacon Street, has been sentenced for using a handheld mobile phone while driving.
The 38-year-old changed his plea from not guilty to guilty in regards to committing the offence in a Peugeot 207 on Holbrook Way on August 5, 2023.
He received six penalty points on his driving licence as well as a £40 fine, and must also pay £90 in court costs and £16 to fund victim services.
