A week of unusually high traffic in Swindon has left drivers frustrated by the delays.
Increased traffic has been experienced on many southbound routes, including Great Western Way, Marlborough Road and Mead Way, and smaller roads including Kingshill Road and Bath Road.
With no reported infrastructure projects in the area to explain the widespread morning rush hour issues, drivers have been left even more confused.
One said: “The traffic has been terrible this week. It’s always bad but this week it has been particularly bad.
“But no-one knows what has caused it so I don’t know how to get around it, what other route I could take.”
OneNetwork is a database that records infrastructure works that might cause disruption from different groups including councils and water companies.
The network has not reported infrastructure works likely to be causing southbound congestion to increase.
One commuter reported their journey time increasing by 50 per cent.
Another said: “In all honesty, it’s quite stressful - I am looking at the clock rather than look at the road.
“It would not be so bad if we knew why.”
A request has been put into Swindon Borough Council.
