While this house looks very ordinary from the front, it is what lies behind that makes the House of the Week.
This “exceptional” house has a garden cabin more suited to the wilds of Alaska than the suburbia of Swindon.
Located in South Marston just outside Swindon, the detached house called ‘Myhome’ has five bedrooms, and is going for £665,000.
Agent Richard James says: “Welcome to Myhome, an exceptional property offering a unique blend of versatility and potential.
“Split into three distinct dwellings, this estate is perfectly suited for a large family, a potential care facility, or a bed and breakfast (subject to planning requirements).
The three properties include the main house, another outhouse as well as the cabin.
The agent continues: “This is a rare opportunity to acquire a property that combines spacious living, privacy, and potential for income generation or community service.”
The cabin features armchairs, a table and a woodburning stove. It looks kitted out as a garden hideaway, with wine glasses laid out and a wine rack in the corner.
Fairy lights dangle from the ceiling. Behind the cabin is an area of woodland that can be accessed from the property.
This could be fun for children as a place to play in the woods, having their independence while in the safety of the family home.
South Marston has multiple areas of woodland around. One person described Nightingale Woods: “A lovely walk, with a free car park and marked routes. It's through the forest, so plenty of nature and gorgeous trees to see.
“I'm a fast walker, and walking both routes around the forest with a couple of detours took around an hour.”
The main house is called the “heart” of the more-than-half-a-million home. It is described as “open plan” with “well-sized” bedrooms and “ample” parking.
Another building, called Woodland View, is described: “With its own private entrance, this property benefits from a spacious lounge and a kitchen/diner with doors leading to a private garden.
“On the first floor, you will find two double bedrooms and a family bathroom.”
The last, The Studio, “boasts a private rear area”. The agent suggests turning some of these buildings into an Airbnb, as they are self-sufficient with their own bedrooms and bathrooms.
The house last sold in 1998 at a price of £135,000, a 492% increase to its current price.
