An annual festival celebrating community spirit in Wiltshire is preparing for its biggest and most exciting event yet.
Cricklade Festival will be taking place on Sunday, June 9 - from 11am to 4pm - and this year is all about celebrating world music, dance and food.
The free festivities will be kicked off in style with The Cricklade Band parading down High Street, before tribute band ‘The Treacles’ perform some classic songs from The Beatles.
There will also be a competition for the best fancy dress costume and organisers are encouraging visitors to ‘let your creativity shine’, as well as a classic car display.
As this is a community event, the festival organisers are asking for volunteer marshals to help the day run smoothly and they are also asking locals who own a classic car to get in touch if they are happy for it to be showcased for fellow car enthusiasts to enjoy.
The festival, which began as a carnival event in 2004, is sponsored by Mather & Murray Financial, whose founders live in Cricklade, and organisers have described the event as a ‘beacon of joy and resilience’, after bouncing back from the Covid pandemic, where they were forced to pause the festival.
