A Superdrug store set to open in Swindon is nearing completion.
It has been known that the pharmaceutical and beauty retailer is moving into Greenbridge Retail Park for a while, thanks to window graphics put up at the former Wilko unit.
But now a cherry picker can be seen in the car park outside and signage bearing the Superdrug logo has been installed at the front of the new store.
The company has not yet confirmed an exact opening date for when the store might throw its doors open to the public indicating only that it would be some time in June.
Previously a spokesperson said: "We are delighted to confirm that a new Superdrug store will be opening at Swindon Greenbridge Retail Park in the summer.
"Our continued investment into our brick-and-mortar retail estate, as well as online, allows us to grow the presence of Superdrug and provide seamless accessibility and experience, regardless of how customers choose to shop.
"We are confident that local customers will love and welcome the new store and very much look forward to welcoming them through the doors in June to explore a wide range of popular health and beauty brands.”
Plans are also still ongoing for Hollywood Bowl to move into the former PC World building in the other section of Greenbridge, with just an empty Laura Ashley and Maplins to fill on that side of the retail park.
When Sports Direct closed at the Orbital Shopping Park, it appeared Superdrug was set to take its place.
A planning application was made by the firm to Swindon Borough Council, which requested permission to change the frontage of the former Sports Direct to include the Superdrug brand.
This application was approved in January, but no visible progress has been made at the empty unit despite progress being seen at another location elsewhere.
But when discussing the Greenbridge store, the Superdrug spokesperson said: "There won’t be a store at Orbital shopping centre at this moment in time."
