Work is ongoing to repair “considerable damage” caused to one of Swindon’s busiest roads by a burst water main.
Thames Water engineers remain on site at Thamesdown Road, near the junction of Abbey Meads and Ash Brake, after a water main burst in the area on Thursday, May 23.
While the road has reopened since the incident, Swindon Borough Council says the carriageway suffered extensive flood damage.
As a result, only one lane has been reopened on each carriageway, with traffic management still in place while engineers work to carry out repairs.

The council expects the repairs to be completed over the weekend of Saturday, May 25, but warned the damage is still being assessed.
It is possible night-time road closures may be required to complete the job.
In the meantime, drivers have been urged to allow extra time for their journeys.
A council spokesperson said: “Due to the extent of the flooding caused by the burst water main, there is considerable damage to the road, which is currently still being assessed.
“It is anticipated that the repair will be carried out over the weekend.
“However, due to the damage caused to the road’s surface, traffic management will remain in place with the possibility of night-time road closures for resurfacing.”
